Public consultation on proposals to amend the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP)
What’s it about?
The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy has submitted a consultation which proposes changes to how SAP assesses the energy performance of homes.
There are 20 areas under review in the consultation, including changes to the way hot water is calculated in SAP, which if sanctioned, would make Waste Water Heat Recovery an even more cost-effective and attractive proposition for your clients.
What we think
Whilst Power-Pipe welcomes most of what is put forward in the SAP2016 consolation, we have strong reservations with the proposed methodology as it stands, which is summarised in a series of short videos.
If these concerns are not addressed, this will lead to widespread abuse of the SAP system which will result in a new performance gap being created between as built and designed performance.
The videos can be accessed here and feature Ashley Prescott, Power-Pipe UK director, as well as Christopher Gaze, CEng FIMechE CEnv- a former TD at BRE.
